give everything for the glory of God

The season of Lent is as good a time as any to consider our practice of discipleship. It is the year of Discipleship in the Queensland UCA and it is a key focus of our teaching and study here at AUC. So I suppose the question is ‘What do we understand discipleship to be’ and in this season of Lent ‘are we in agreement with God as to what that means for our lives?’

Francis Chan says “Being a disciple of Jesus Christ means to learn from Him, fellowship with Him, and obey everything he commands us. We study the Bile to learn about who God is, who we are, and what God is doing in our world. The Bible compels us to join God in what He is doing in an around us. Studying the Bible is important, but the goal is never knowledge for the sake of knowledge.

Being a disciple of Jesus means being transformed into His image. God wants to change us so much that it intrigues others. This gives us the opportunity to tell them about the God who is transforming us.” [Multiply p14 © 2012]

Starting now, let us make it our goal to spend our lives raising up followers who will give everything for the glory of God. The best way to start – give everything for the glory of God.
