In just a few weeks, one of our members, Kristy Warner is following a call God has placed on her life to spend a year in Thailand. If you haven`t yet met her, Kristy is one of our worship leaders at our 6:30 and co-leads a women`s small group. With the support of friends and her small group, Kristy has travelled the journey of discerning God`s call for her life, at this time; taken the huge step of faith of applying to be part of a YWAM ministry in Thailand; and, after being accepted, putting in the work to prepare for this ministry. Preparation has taken all sorts of forms: a great deal of prayer, finishing off her Uni degree, conversations with family and friends, making travel arrangements and pulling together the funds needed for the journey. Every part of that journey has been faith stretching and faith building for Kristy, and for those who have heard her stories along the way.
Today Kristy will be sharing with each of our services about the YWAM (Youth With A Mission) ministry in Thailand she will be a part of. Located in the tourist destination of Pattaya, The Tamar Centre is dedicated to supporting women who want to leave the sex trade industry. The majority of women working in this industry in Pattaya are there because they were in desperate financial situations. The people at The Tamar Centre reach out to the women working in the bars and nightclubs, build relationships with them and provide the opportunity to receive counselling and training for other gainful employment, all the while sharing the message of God`s unconditional love and limitless grace.
